Thesis

Meet with JMC today and we discussed my thesis project. Basically, I have 3 main task. If i work in these three directions/modes, and find a way to intergrate the result into a cohesive coherent project, i will be in a good position for the presentation.

My Modes of Work

• Build
• Develop Code
• Establish Conceptual Framework

In terms of building, I need some sort of kiosk/table that will exhibit the project’s context. Instead of milling a site model, i figure it might be more interesting to create a table-screen for my processing scripts. I made some initial sketches and renderings. I will be using my assigned studio space as the ‘mock up’ space. I remember reading something about the apple stores, and how when they design them, they build a mockup in some large warehouse. My memory might be false, but the notion is a good one and i’m going to use it as a way to produce work for my thesis project.

I imagine something along the lines of the following videos for the first iteration. But replace the the software with a processing applet that has an interactive figure ground.

• Site Table

  This is my studio workspace. I figure my first installation will be a projection table. The table will display the project's site context through a processing script that i will write.

• Rhino Model of Mock Up Thesis Studio Space

  3d model of my thesis space, that I will use a mock up space for the thesis project. The first project will be to create a multi-touch table that will act as a kiosk, that informs views about the project's context.
